Welcome to ABRF 2014!
It is with great pride and enthusiasm that we invite you to join us in Albuquerque, New Mexico, for the 2014 meeting of the Association of Biomolecular Resource Facilities (ABRF) and the 25th Anniversary Celebration of the incorporation of the association. The celebration will honor the founders of the organization and their vision and dedication to promoting and advancing the only international organization dedicated solely to the advancement of biomolecular technologies and the professional training of directors and managers of those technologies in a core facility environment.
The scientific theme for the meeting is “Team Science and Big Data: Cores at the Frontier” which will bring together leaders in these emerging disciplines to address the role that core facilities are playing in the information revolution. The ABRF is uniquely positioned to lead efforts to optimize and standardize the generation of large data sets, as well as to facilitate team-based solutions for the analyses, management and utilization of such data. Attendees will have the opportunity to learn about recent scientific advances as well as funding opportunities aimed at addressing these challenges.
We invite you take advantage of the unique blend of engaging and insightful presentations that highlight cutting-edge science, novel technological developments, issues in facilities management and operations, and practical information to enhance the optimization and implementation of technologies and techniques within core facility and biomolecular laboratory settings. Once again the meeting will feature a series of concurrent tracks that will allow presenters and attendees to explore and discuss, in depth, critical scientific, technical and administrative issues faced in the areas of Genomics, Proteomics, Light Microscopy and Imaging, Core Facility Administration and Operations. In the spirit of the theme of the meeting, "Team Science and Big Data", there will be special sessions addressing how these initiatives will impact core facilities and biomolecular technologies in our efforts to help solve important scientific and biomedical problems.
In addition, numerous social opportunities will be hosted to facilitate connecting and networking with professional colleagues and industry partners! Events include entertaining opening and closing functions, poster session receptions and evening social activities - all of which are meant to strengthen and build ties within the ABRF network. As always, there will be an outstanding host of industry exhibitors showcasing the cutting-edge instrumentation, applications and reagents necessary for the operation of core facilities and biomolecular laboratories.
We look forward to seeing you in Albuquerque, as we celebrate our 25th Anniversary as an association, and to help us continue to make this the premier meeting for core facility researchers focused on biomolecular technologies!
