HDX and Imaging in the Core

Speaker: Kevin Schey
Track:

Hydrogen-deuterium exchange (HDX) mass spectrometry and imaging mass spectrometry (IMS) are two cutting edge mass spectrometry techniques that are not frequently found in Core facilities. HDX-MS provides protein structure information and information on protein-protein interaction sites. IMS provides analyte (lipid, metabolites, drugs, and proteins) localization within tissue samples. Within the Mass Spectrometry Research Center at Vanderbilt University we have established an independent IMS Core facility and have added a HDX-MS service in the Proteomics Core Facility. The implementation, administration, and usage of HDX-MS and IMS services will be discussed as well as the challenges of implementing these technologies. In addition, examples of key results will be presented.
